Dance to the sun as
It warms up the night
As it slowly sinks inward
To darken our light
I stand in the shadows
I see what you see
I feel the sand moving
It blows it is free
To move all around as I do when I do
Now here then there,
It drifts everywhere
It heaps up in corners
Then blows again sideways
Tilting the earth
It’s always in motion
Shifting and drifting
Till it scatters again

So soft yet insistent
So yielding but sharp
Smoothing the splinter
and edges in me
Now I am naked
You see here I am
Sandblown to perfection
That girl standing there
That girl was once me

Now I am wiser
My face lined with laughter
Whatever fate brought me
I chased the hereafter
I saw past the veil
Of sadness and pain
And emerged in the light
Then scattered again
